Dangaria Kandha is in a recently released Telugu movie. Dangaria Kandha’s Meli is featured in this film. Dangaria women are seen in traditional attire. The combination o dhangaria with kapadangada cloths with traditional jewelery has left the Odia cinephiles in awe. A scene from the political thriller Game Changer, a much-talked-about Telugu movie, features a gathering of dhangarias. The main character of the movie and the chief minister are being met by dhangarias. The village chief of Dangaria Kandha is giving a meeting. In return, the protagonist is appeasing all the Dangarias by giving them a hearty meal at their home. Everyone is sitting down on the small table in front of them, eating food and dancing with the vilian in traditional dance. Dhangaria, a primitive tribe living in the hills of niyamgiri in the Rayagada district of Odisha, are as famous for their traditional clothing and unique cloths as they are for protesting the ban on mining in Niyamgiri.
After the Vedanta obtained the mining mandate in the Niyamgiri Hills, the Dangaria Kandhas strongly opposed it. They were protested in Bhubaneswar and Delhi as well. There was a case in the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court ordered for GRAMSABHA in the presence of a District judge. Village meeting was held in the presence of the judge as directed by the court. The people of the Dangaria tribe everywhere opposed the mining order. Finally, in 2013, the Supreme Court quashed the decision of the Gram Sabha. It had a worldwide impact. This point is also symbolically reflected in the film Game Changer. The hero of the film, Ramcharan, is mobilizing the villagers and protesting against the mining order in the hills near the village. He is protesting of pitching a tent with the villagers. After 121 days of speculation, a person came running and gave the good news that the mining order has been withdrawn. A regional political party is born after this movement. The party has gained power through vote politics.
Then the picture shows how the lust for power dehumanizes man.In the politics of IAS vs politicians, who is stronger in politics, the director has beautifully decorated it. The story of the game changer and the dynamics of the film are very beautiful and exciting. The film recently released in both Hindi and Telugu languages and has been a success at the box office. While the Telugu director is succeeding in making beautiful films about the story of Odisha and the primitive tribes of Odisha, his inability to show his skills in Odisha’s future is shocking the Odianese cinema lovers. However, some real Dangaria adults and women are also seen in the film.
From a reliable source it has been noticed that a fifty-member Dangaria Kandha tribal team had gone to Mahisur eight months ago to participate in the film. From Chatikana, he took a special bus to Visakhapatnam and from there another bus to Mahishur and took part in the shooting. The production company is said to have spent lakhs of rupees for just a few minutes of acting. Many people of the Dangaria tribe who are happy to act in it have expressed their opinion.
